Making a carving knife with Nick Westerman
Another experience, learning from someone who is widely recognised as the guru of making carving and hook knife blades. He has a waiting list of three years for most of his wares. I was lucky enough to spend a day in his workshop with some other well known bodger’s and woodworker’s. Eight of us were tutored in making our very own carving knife, forging the blade, heat treating, grinding, carving a handle and weaving a birch sheath, oh and another full English to start the day off!

Don’t hammer the blade before it has been tempered.
